Yield Strength and Tensile Strength from Imprint Testing

Advanced Materials Testing Solutions

Advanced Materials Testing Solutions

The Imprint Test, based on indentation plastometry and aligned with DIN SPEC 4864 and ASTM E3499, enables fast local testing of metallic materials without classical tensile-specimen preparation. It delivers yield strength and tensile strength close to tensile-test logic while remaining much closer to the real sample, the relevant zone and practical engineering decisions.

Locally resolved testing capability of mechanical properties.

Local mechanical properties can be determined directly on the relevant zone of the sample or component.

Fully automated mapping of strength profiles.

Automated i3D® systems capture many measuring points in a short time and support strength mapping across a surface.

Results within 60 seconds.

One indent can already provide usable mechanical data within roughly one minute.

High repeatability and comparability to tensile testing.

The method delivers repeatable results and stays close to tensile-test interpretation for yield and tensile strength.

Advanced Materials Testing Solutions

Are you looking to investigate and determine stress-strain curves without the need for sample preparation? Look no further. Our advanced materials testing solutions allow you to analyze plastic deformation behavior directly without doing a tensile test.

No Tensile Test Sample Preparation Required: Say goodbye to time-consuming sample preparation. With our technology, you can quickly and easily examine the plastic deformation behavior of your materials without the need for intricate sample preparation procedures.

Location-Resolved Analysis: Gain valuable insights into material properties at specific locations. Our solutions offer the ability to perform location-resolved analysis, allowing you to understand variations in material behavior across different regions of your sample.

Our testing devices with i3D® technology enable fully automated measurements at more than 200 points within a short period. With the capability to capture hundreds of measurement points in a single run, this innovative device opens up new possibilities for mechanical material testing, both in the laboratory and close to production. By harnessing state-of-the-art technologies and the latest insights from materials science, we provide our users with highly precise and reliable data.

Applications #ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Multisample screening for the development of alloys with fast available data.

In the early stages of alloy development, quickly accessible data, including mechanical properties, is often very helpful. It accelerates the process of development through close iteration loops, where steps between adjusting parameters and getting data are accelerated exponentially. Within approx. 1 minute, 1 plastic flow curves is measured.

Applications #WELDS

Weld seam examination. Testing of tensile strength, yield strength and ductility.

In the context of research work, weld joints were characterized for their mechanical properties in the base material, transition zone, heat-affected zone, and weld seam. Traditionally, the Vickers hardness test was used to measure local hardnesses with measurement points arranged in lines along the weld joint.
